Now some of you may not know this, I personally, am I huge YuGiOh fan. Always have been. The cards are great, and my current deck is called Shipping.dek because it combines two characters decks that are well, shipped together a lot. I didn't make this to talk about my skills though, I made this to talk about Arc V (pronounced arc five, because reasons.)
Now, in my opinion it's the best yugioh show they've made. Ever. It has interesting characters, interesting cards, all that good stuff. But I'm not here to talk about the good about it, oh no. I want to talk about the bad. The terrible.
Now, 4kids is dubbing it, and you might be thinking, didn't they close down? Yes, but a few of them got together, and using the YuGiOh anime licence they still have, have begun to dub the new one. Let's do a comparison shall we?
Small plot synopsis, in a reality where we figure out how to give the holograms created by dueling actual mass and the ability to interact with them Yuya, our main character, uses this incredible technology to ride dragons. However, during a duel that actually matters he manages to draw a card that does not technically exist and then everyone wants to see them in action while he tries to learn to use them.
Now although the opening is bad, that's, that's not what really made me make this thread. Let's talk about 4kids worst aspect, no not the censorship they've been deceptively tame for this series. No the voices. Let's show you the regular voices for example, here!
Now for the dub. I dare you, I honestly dare you to try and make it through this entire episode. You won't, but just listen to the first five minutes for an example of just how shit this show is.
For a youtube link? This one's a little out of order, but here.
This hurts doesn't it? It feels almost like everyone in this show is having their first try at acting. It honestly does.
